Region

Inserted into the Alentejo coast, Monte dos Parvos has numerous tourist attractions of a unique natural beauty nearby, safeguarded by the proximity of the Protected Area of the Alentejo Littoral and the Vincentian Coast stretching from north of Sines to the Algarve, near the city of Lagos.

Vila Nova de Milfontes

With their beautiful and clean beaches and blue waters, placed side by side with the dunes and their typical flora, which is protected and preserved, we recommend Malhão Beach and Furnas Beach, which are respectively at 5 km. and 8 km. distance from Monte dos Parvos.

Porto Covo

Further north, about 15 km, is Porto Covo with its small, but sheltered beaches where the clarity of the water provides the opportunty to spearfish. Porto Covo is a pleasant little town where, in addition to good restaurants and "pubs" where you can taste the good fish like bream and horse mackerel, you can admire the numerous homes with Alentejo handicraft items rich in their motives and elucidative in relation to their culture, uses and customs.

Sines

Porto Covo looks out at the city of Sines, a location initially of fishermen but today transformed into an important industrial warehouse, equipped with a modern port that provides berthing for the largest tankers of global suppliers of crude oil that will be processed in recently assembled refineries and supplying the country with the most varied petroleum products. In addition to being a major population center, the city of Sines offers interesting nightime attactions, as well as monuments of undeniable historical and artistic interest.

Zambujeira do Mar

To the south of Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, Almograve Beach and Sardão Cape deserve emphasis, as well as the small but beautiful village of Zambujeira do Mar, today a mandatory stop for anyone who wants to try the grilled sardines and delight in the mussels and goose barnacles.

Odemira

Odemira, the county seat and a major urban center, has as its jewel the river that bathes it, the Mira River, which flows into the estuary of Milfontes.
A multitude of interesting places make the Alentejo coast a pleasant and unforgettable region transmitting to all who visit it a feeling of sadness at the time of their departure and a desire to return at the first opportunity.

For more information about its strengths and points of interest, we recommend that you contact the Tourism Office of Vila Nova de Milfontes where every visitor, whether domestic or foreign, will always be received in the manner only the Alentejo knows how to do.
